Coronation Street star Sam Aston revealed he won’t be leaving the hit soap any time soon as him and his wife Briony await the birth of their second child.
The 28-year-old actor, who has played Chesney Brown for nearly 20 years, has been involved in his fair share of dramatic storylines during his time.
On Tuesday’s Loose Women, Sam and his wife Briony spoke to presenters Ruth Langsford, Janet Street- Porter, Coleen Nolan and Kéllé Bryan about the joys of parenting as they prepare to welcome their baby girl this spring.
When asked if there was ‘a chance’ he could leave the soap to pursue other projects, Sam simply expressed how ‘lucky he was’ to be part of the long-running programme.
‘I’ve played him [Chesney] for so long,’ replied Sam.
‘But I’ve been lucky because I’ve had so many storylines over the years that always kind of test you and it’s a new thing to get your teeth into.
‘So I’ve not really entertained the idea right now, so I don’t know. Maybe not.’
Sam and Briony shared the joyous baby news on social media in October last year, the pair shared a cute snap of their one-year-old son Sonny standing in front of four pumpkins.
Sonny was holding up a sign which revealed the happy news. ‘We’re adding another pumpkin to our patch! Due Spring 2022.’
The yoga instructor shared the same picture on her own Instagram account, captioning it simply with a sparkle emoji.
Sam received several messages of congratulations from his fellow Corrie co-stars, including Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny Connor), who wrote: ‘Oh my!!! Congratulations to you both x’
Sam and Briony were childhood sweethearts, and tied the knot in May 2019 in an intimate ceremony at Stock Farm in Cheshire.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
