Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell hasn't even departed the ITV cobbles yet, and she's already teased an epic return to the soap.
Alexandra is best known for starring as Steve McDonald's daughter Emma Brooker in Corrie, and officially announced her exit last month.
The star told The Sun at the time: "Playing Emma, on the most iconic street there is, has been the best experience of my life.
"Compared to other cast members I still feel like a newbie, which makes my decision to leave all the more difficult. But I feel it’s the right time for me."
But Alexandra says the door has been left open for her return, with Emma departing in one of three epic ways.
Though she avoids certain death – for now – Corrie bosses have confirmed that Emma could be heading for prison after the accidental death of Ted while she and Faye were driving.
But with romance heating up between Emma and Ted's grandson Jon, she could also be set to move to Australia with him – or flee the cobbles on her own if Jon finds out the sick truth about his granddad's death.
Speaking to Daily Star about her exit, Alexandra admitted: "I’m so pleased [that Emma isn’t being killed off]. I’m really, really pleased.
"I think even saying goodbye was hard enough, but that little hope of maybe one day there’s a possibility I could go back kind of keeps you going. It’s not goodbye forever, you never know. I’m really glad that she wasn’t killed off."
But how would Emma cope behind bars?
Alexandra explained: "It would not be good, I feel like she would be targeted straight away, poor Emma!
"But what would be interesting to see if she went to prison and came back in the future, how she would’ve changed. Prison life has changed her!"
She confessed that she's going to miss "everything" about working on Corrie – other than wearing her character's iconic pink outfits.
And speaking of a potential return to the soap, Alexandra said: "I mean, it's definitely not out of the question. I can see why people stay there so long!
"I don't know what the future holds, but I'm just so glad that Emma is alive, and hopefully she remains alive!"
And her fellow cast members helped her with her decision – though Alex admits she kept it secret for a while.
"Initially I kept it secret, because because it was sad to tell people, but once everyone knew about it – as well as being sad they were really supportive.
"Those people that have gone and come back said it was the right decision, but that I’m always welcome back if I’m not killed off, so that was lovely!"
It also emerged that Emma's on-screen mum Fiona Middleton, played by Angela Griffin, was originally supposed to appear in more scenes with her daughter.
But in Soapland, Fiona ended up emigrating to Australia.
Alexandra admitted it would have been "amazing" to work with her – and that there's always the possibility of a future storyline.
She said: "That would have been amazing because just being with [Angela] for that day was just so, so great, and it did feel like we were all a little family!
"I wish we could’ve explored that more. But you never know, in the future we could both come back from Australia!"
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
