Coronation Street star Will Mellor was left feeling ‘absolutely horrendous’ after receiving his first dose of the AstraZeneca Covid vaccine.
The actor – who portrays drugs boss Harvey on the ITV soap – took to Instagram after his inoculation to tell his followers that he felt like ‘an 80-year-old man’.
‘I had the Covid jab yesterday,’ Will, 45, said in a video on social media, ‘and I feel absolutely horrendous.
‘I can barely lift my head off the pillow and my arms are like lead.
‘I have aching bones, all my back is aching, it’s like I’ve literally got the full blown flu.
‘When I try to walk it’s like I’m an 80-year-old man, I’m not joking, it’s horrendous.
‘Obviously not everyone is going to get it like this, but just to let you know there’s a possibility.
‘So if you’re going to have the jab don’t plan nothing for the day after just in case.’
The soap star, who also portrayed Jambo in Hollyoaks, joined Corrie earlier this year as villainous crime lord Harvey.
‘I’m honoured to be asked to come into Coronation Street, it’s such an iconic show and has been a huge part of my family life,’ he said at the time.
‘When I started acting 32 years ago it was my mum’s dream for me to be in Corrie so I’m happy to finally be able to make it come true. It’s a Manchester institution and as a Manchester actor this is definitely a box ticked.
‘Harvey is the first out and out baddie I’ve ever played. It’s a very different type of role for me so I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into the character and making some waves.’
