Eamonn Holmes speechless as This Morning caller orders him to ‘be nicer to Ruth’

This Morning presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were playing It's Behind You during Friday's edition of the show, and were talking to the third contestant of the day when the caller couldn't resist getting a dig in.

Steven won £300 and as the game finished, he told Eamonn: "I'm very happy, and I'd like you to behave yourself.

"You're going to have a nice weekend, Man U won last night, you can have a curry tonight, so you shouldn't be so miserable and be nice to her," referring to Ruth.

Eamonn looked stunned as he replied: "Two out of three isn't bad," as Steven left.

He then turned to his wife and said: "Hear that? He said just be nice to me."

Ruth hit back: "No he was saying you should be nice to me," as Eamonn said: "I'm always nice to you," before the pair quickly moved on with the rest of the show.

Viewers took to social media to comment on the awkward moment, as one said: "The caller telling Eamonn Holmes to stop being miserable and to be nicer to Ruth is a legend. We were ALL thinking that."

But another disagreed, saying: "Having reflected on it I think Eamonn should have told that caller to f*** off. A. It’s clearly banter and Ruth finds it funny and B. You don’t get to tell someone else to just “stop being miserable”. It’s lockdown and even Eamonn is suffering. Mental health matters."

Eamonn and Ruth have been hosting the show for this week as regular presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are taking a break for the half-term holidays.

The shock dig from the caller comes after Eamonn sparked outrage earlier this week after taking a swipe at Ruth's weight during It's Behind You.

As they played the game, Kate Middleton came up on the screen as Eamonn and Ruth had to guess who it was the caller was describing.

Realising who it was, Eamonn swiped: "She's very thin… unlike you dear," as Ruth ignored his comments.

Moving on to the next caller, Eamonn made another joke about what someone would say to describe Ruth, as he said: "No one would ever say she's very thin and married to Eamonn Holmes would they?"

One fan said on social media: "Looks like Ruth will be serving salad for Eamonn's dinner tonight."

A second chipped in: "As if Eamonn Holmes just said to Ruth “well it’s not you then” when the clue was “she’s very thin” …. how bloody rude!!"

A third agreed: "That wasn't very nice what you said to Ruth about her weight #thismorning she's beautiful."

This Morning continues on Monday at 10am on ITV.
