EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt has been pictured leaving a hotel after it was revealed he has split from his wife of 22 years, Beverley Sharp.
The Ian Beale actor and Beverley, who tied the knot in 1988, separated last year.
The photos, which were taken in September 2019, show the 52-year-old leaving a hotel with a suitcase and carrier bag, before loading them into the back of a car.
A spokesperson for Adam confirmed the pair’s split, saying in a statement: ‘Beverley and Adam separated in August last year and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected.’
A source added to The Sun: ‘Beverley was naturally very upset, as anybody would be in the circumstances, but these things happen and it’s a straightforward separation.
‘Nobody plans for these things and divorce is a difficult thing to get your head around but they have dealt with it quietly for several months and are now telling friends so it’s less of a secret.
‘They still get on well, and are keen to make sure they stay that way for the sake of their children – even though they are now grown up.’
Adam and Beverley share two children – Samuel and Jessica.
The publication added that there is no third party involved in the split.
EastEnders legend Adam is the soap’s longest-serving actor, first appearing on the Square in 1985.
Just recently, it was reported that the actor will be taking a break, with some ‘explosive’ storylines in store for Ian before he’s temporarily written out of the soap.
According to a BBC source, there is a huge storyline on the way, with Adam’s ‘break’ as part of the plot.
‘It will be strange for viewers not to have Ian on screen for such a long time,’ they added to the Daily Star.
‘But it will be nice for Adam to have some time out after working on the show for so long.’
