EastEnders star reveals fan reaction will decide Keanu and Sharon's future

While Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) undoubtedly have a fiery and turbulent past in EastEnders, Danny Walters, who plays Keanu, is hoping that they could finally have a future together. And in episodes to be aired soon that hope moves a step closer as the couple give in to their lust for each other and have a passionate encounter.

Of course it’s bound not to be plain sailing after that, as Danny told us.

‘I think there’s always going to be drama between them two no matter how much they try and make things plain-sailing,’ he observed.

‘At the end of the day, they do have a child together but they also have a lot of people who are against their relationship. You’ve got Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), of course, who is against it, you’ve got a lot of people on the Square who make digs about their relationship and the age difference, and you also have Karen (Lorraine Stanley) who is not the biggest fan of the relationship, and not the biggest fan of Sharon. So, there’s a lot of resistance from external characters on the Square.’

Danny has enjoyed the reaction of fans to Keanu’s return, which came after a three year absence.

‘It’s been really positive, and really nice to have such a great, warm welcome back to the show,’ he said.

‘I think the character was liked by many people before I left the show, so the return has been really nice. Hopefully, I like to think that I have fulfilled the audience’s expectations of the character again, and I hope that they’re enjoying having Keanu back on their screens, and enjoying watching the drama and all the stuff that’s to come.’

And it’s the fans who hold the key as to whether there’s a future for Keanu and Sharon, according to Danny.

‘What happens in the future…we shall see. It also depends on what the fans want and what the audience want to see,’ he told us. ‘I don’t actually know too much, I guess that’s in the writers’ and the producers’ hands!

‘But as it stands, I’m really enjoying the work that myself and Tish [Letitia Dean] are putting out, and it’s always a joy to work with Letitia. We have so much fun on set. It’s professional, it’s fun, and the characters work really well together. It’s a joy to work with her.’
