Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins) faced even more hardship this season as she tried her best to juggle two jobs, her own social media brand and her catastrophic love life. Viewers are desperate to know what will happen when Emily in Paris returns, but don’t expect sparks to fly between Emily and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) just yet.

Creator of Emily in Paris Darren Star has warned fans not to get their hopes up when the series picks up from another jaw-dropping cliffhanger.

The divisive yet fashionable rom-com is expected to return next year following Camille’s (Camille Razat) shocking split from her fiance Gabriel.

Not only did Camille make the decision on what would have been their surprise wedding day, but she also blamed their separation on the fact Gabriel is clearly in love with Emily.

While Camille could make it work with Greek artist Sofia (Melia Kreiling) after their brief fling, Gabriel was left in the lurch as he decided whether or not to confess his feelings to Emily.

Unfortunately, fans shouldn’t expect any declarations of love just yet – at least not in the first few episodes of Emily in Paris season four.

“I certainly have ideas, but I think they will [coexist],” Darren said.

“They are all involved in each other’s lives, they are friends, they work together. They’re all very much tied together.”

Darren assured fans the drama won’t get too out of control next time, and the core group will be able to live and work together amicably for the time being.

However, things could be awkward between Emily and Gabriel for a while if they refuse to address Camille’s accusation they have feelings for each other.

“I just think there were some big unforeseen complications here, especially for Emily,” Darren told Deadline.

“And perhaps Emily-Gabriel is not meant to be, at least in the immediate future.”

Emily in Paris is clearly still popular, having shot to the top of Netflix’s UK chart since its release this Wednesday.

With millions of fans clearly continuing to tune in, the series could last long enough to draw Emily and Gabriel’s romance out over several seasons.

However, Darren also confirmed feelings mixing with business will play a huge part in the next instalment, so Emily may soon find herself juggling romance with her career yet again.

“I think that will be our theme for season four,” he explained. “Season three was about making choices.

“I think season four is about how to balance business and toxic relationships, because that’s going to be happening with a lot of our characters.”

And the producer also confirmed: “I definitely think the show has a life beyond next season.

“It’s not necessarily conceived as a final chapter. I think like every other show, it’s a rich ensemble. There’s no end in sight until everybody feels like it’s time to end.”

Whether or not Emily and Gabriel are destined to be is undecided for the time being, but it looks like the fashionista will have plenty of time to work out where her heart lies over the coming years.

Emily in Paris season 3 is available to stream on Netflix.
