Emmerdale fans spot clue iconic character is being recast after actress quits the soap | The Sun

EMMERDALE fans are convinced fan favourite character will make a return to the Dales – but with a new face.

Debbie Dingle – played by Charley Webb – was last seen in Emmerdale village in 2021.

She left the village and went back to Scotland, but her name is often mentioned on the ITV soap.

Even though ITV say there's "no plans for Debbie Dingle to return", fans have taken to social media to share their theories about the iconic character returning to the village.

Some fans think she will return to the village with a different actress playing the role.

Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) is currently visiting mum Debbie in Scotland after she recently collapsed.

After the young girl's health took a turn for the worst, fans think that Debbie will definitely come back.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "I think they'll bring Debbie back as a recast. The actor who currently plays her says she isn't returning to the show.

Another added: "Surely Debbie and Andy would return for Sarah, recast the roles if need be #Emmerdale @emmerdale."

Debbie first arrived in the village back in 2002 as Paddy (Dominic Brunt) and Emily Kirk's (.Kate McGregor) temporary foster child.

Corrie under fire as fans switch off and slam ‘woke and preachy’ storylines

Some of her most memorable storylines included her relationship with Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) which lead to her pregnancy at 15.

Her daughter Sarah was diagnosed with a blood disorder.

Her relationship with Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) sparked the 2013 week of episodes known as "The Woolpack Siege."

And her relationship with Tom Waterhouse was later revealed as Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) after being conned by him.

Debbie moved to Scotland in 2019 when the actress went on maternity leave to have her third child, Ace.

She returned at Christmas 2020 and was revealed to be sleeping with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman), who was engaged to Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade).

When she announced her Emmerdale exit, she said: “This is always my most asked question but I've never answered it before because I've never wanted to make a big deal of it.

“I left to have (third child) Ace two-years-ago. I went back at the end of last year (2021) for 10 weeks to complete a storyline.

"So, I guess officially it's been a year. I never felt the need to announce it, which is why we didn't.”

Since then, the mum-of-three recently appeared in BBC’s new crime drama Better.
