Emmerdale’s troublesome teen Leanna (played by Mimi Slinger) discovered Meena’s (Paige Sandhu) dark secret after finding items she’d left in a bag which was given to Leanna. Meena confronted Leanna in her own home before chasing her through the village and pushing her off the bridge to her death. The ITV soap aired heartbreaking scenes as Liam (Jonny McPherson) tried to come to terms with what everyone believes to have been tragic accident. Understandably, he hasn’t been coping very well, but as things escalate this week, could he attack Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant)?

In upcoming scenes, newlywed Liam refuses to engage with wife Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) or Jacob over Leanna’s funeral arrangements.

He berates Leyla for her and Jacob’s overblown ideas, telling her he’ll be arranging things himself from now on.

Fuming, he later tells Layla she has let him down when he needed her most, and she is left reeling.

The next day, Liam tells Charles he wants a traditional, dignified and respectful funeral for Leanna and he struggles to contain his anger as a defiant Jacob arrives and joins the meeting.

Liam has been lashing out at Leyla since Leanna’s death, going as far as to blame her.

In a recent episode, he told her: “I think you should go and stay at David’s this evening.”

Leyla replied: “I don’t want to stay at David’s,” but he snapped back: “I don’t care what you want.”

“I am your wife,” Meena remarked. “I should be here with you.”

He harshly replied: “That’s exactly why I don’t want you here, you never listen or think about your actions, lie giving Leanna those high heels.”

“What about them?” asked Leyla. Liam yelled: “She wasn’t used to them.

“She stumbled and fell off that bridge because of you.” Heartbroken, Leyla replied: “Are you saying that I killed her?”

“Maybe,” Liam said. But it isn’t just Leyla the grieving father has been blaming.

In his bereaved state, he’s also been lashing out at Jacob and even some of Leanna’s friends.

But things could come to a head next week as Liam continues to push everyone away from the funeral arrangements.

But a simmering Jacob is determined, and things soon reach boiling point.

He rages to Liam about how he knew Leanna better than him, and a furious Liam storms out, leaving guilty Leyla blaming herself.

Later, Jacob pleads with Liam to think again about the funeral, pointing out that it should reflect all that was unique and amazing in Leanna’s personality.

But reaching a crisis point, will Liam’s lashing out take a violent turn?

In his heartbroken state, it’s possible he may lose control and attack Jacob.

Will he realise what he’s doing before Jacob is harmed?

Liam holds a lot of resentment towards Jacob because he and Leanna’s relationship was turbulent just before her death.

Th pair had argued just before she died, and Liam believes the youngster let Leanna down by telling her he had changed his mind about going travelling with her.

It would make sense for Liam to take his growing frustrations out on Jacob, but how far will he take it?

Meanwhile, at Leanna’s funeral, Meena covertly fiddles with the teenager’s ring, which she has placed on a necklace.

She panics when the ring falls from the necklace, watching in horror as it rolls and stops near Liam’s shoe.

Quietly stricken, Meena fears discovery, but how long will it take for the truth to come out?

Emmerdale continues on Monday at 7pm on ITV.
