Emmerdale spoilers – Star breaks silence on DREAM role she missed out on; plus Coronation Street & EastEnders news | The Sun

LAURA Norton, who play's Emmerdale's Kerry Wyatt revealed that she auditioned for the soap twice before landing her current role.

Sometimes persistency is key if you want to achieve your dreams, andactress Laura Norton certainly didn't let the first two rejections get her down.

The actress first appeared in the Dales around 10 years ago, in 2012.

She told Inside Soap: "Me and my family had always watched Emmerdale and I'd auditioned before – however, it hadn't worked out, so I thought that ship had sailed."

Originally auditioning to play Amelia's mother, Ali, Laura didn't get the role.

While directors clearly noticed a talent in Laura, they told her: "The casting director said I wasn't quite right for either, but a year later they called me in for Kerry.

"I was the first person they saw out of about 40. It was meant to be!"

Laura went on to explain that she "loves" her character, Kerry, and that things worked out perfectly for her in the end.

When Fiz mumbled, Phill warned her: “Whether you are or whether you wouldn’t, you’re not getting it either way! If you knew your history, you’d know that the original Declaration of Independence started a war, and so goes for this!”

Digital Spy reports Phill then ripped up the annulment papers, revealing he knew Fiz was with Tyrone on the night of their wedding.

“All you are to me is a name in my divorce papers,” he told Tyrone. “The bloke she committed adultery with.”

Hollyoaks' Richard Blackwood slams soap’s ‘hierarchy’

RICHARD Blackwood took a swipe at EastEnders as he spoke of his time on rival soap Hollyoaks.

The actor, who played Vincent Hubbard on the BBC show until 2018, joined the Channel 4 soap in 2020.

Vincent vanished from Walford four years ago and Phil Mitchell is paying the price for his involvement in the late character’s demise.

Two years after his exit from Albert Square, Richard Blackwood secured himself a spot in Hollyoaks as Felix Westwood.

During yesterday’s Sunday Brunch with Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy on Channel 4, the actor spoke about his role in Chester while reflecting on his stint in the BBC One program.

And while he enjoyed his time in EastEnders, the 50-year-old admitted there was “less of a hierarchy” in his current job.

“The Hollyoaks team… It’s just a real family basically”, he said.

“There’s no hierarchies, no egos, and everybody wants to help everybody – it’s a great vibe.”

This prompted Simon to probe: “Is that not the norm though? Because I always imagine EastEnders must have been like that as well.”

Richard added that “EastEnders is like that”.

Daisy Wood Davis given urgent warning from other mums

HOLLYOAKS star Daisy Wood Davis was given an urgent warning from other mums last week as she served her baby grapes.

The 31-year-old shared a snap of the meal she was giving her son Asa, ten months, including some grapes cut in half – unaware they have to be sliced even smaller than that.

The NHS guidelines advice cutting grapes lengthways and into small pieces to avoid choking.

Soon after sharing the picture, Daisy was inundated with comments from concerned fans and she quickly reassured them Asa was fine.

She wrote: “Just read my DMs and sooo many of you are kindly advising me to cut the grapes again.

“This was his first time having them so I wasn’t sure but luckily Maj made me aware but Asa attempted to eat one! Phew!”
