Emmerdale star ‘to leave ITV soap after just one year’ and shoot final scenes

One of the newest Emmerdale stars has reportedly quit after being with the ITV soap for only a year.

Actress Karene Peter is set to leave the village not long after she arrived in her role as Naomi Walters, vicar Charles Anderson’s long-lost daughter.

Her final scenes will be shot in the next few months, but it appears the door is open for her to return as a source suggested she could come back “down the line”.

A source told The Sun: “Karene’s loved her time on the soap but it is time for her to go.

“Being on Emmerdale was a dream but she became an actor to play different roles and that’s exactly what she wants to do."

The source added: “The door isn’t being closed on Naomi so she could always make a return down the line.”

After she arrived in the village in July last year, Naomi was part of a dramatic storyline that saw Nicola King attacked by a gang of girls in a car park.

It was later shown that Naomi had seen the violent event but failed to intervene, although she was found to be innocent at the trial.

She has recently split up with Nate Robinson after moving in with the farmer. Unable to pay the rent, she’s now moved in with Charles and his partner, Manpreet.

She has also been conned and had her heart broken by drug dealer Alex.

Naomi was born sometime in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

Charles didn't know of Naomi’s existence until 2021 as her mother Esme had left him.

Esme had tried to care for Naomi for the first few months of her life but was unable to do so due to her post-natal depression, so Naomi was put up for adoption.

Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.
