Emmerdale’s Jane Cox in tears as she watches moment Lisa Dingle dies

Emmerdale star Jane Cox was in tears on This Morning today as she watched the heartbreaking moment that her character Lisa Dingle died.

The actress, who has played Lisa for 23 years, bowed out of the role during last night's devastating episode.

Lisa tragically died just hours after marrying the love of her life Zak.

Appearing on the sofa today with hosts Eamonn Holmes and Phillip Schofield, she was handed a tissue after watching the scenes.

Speaking about her last scenes, she said: "It was a huge mixture of emotions, my lovely Steve Halliwell… the tears were real because I'm never going to work with them again."

Explaining her reason for leaving the ITV soap, she said: "Suddenly felt that if I didn't do it now I probably never would. but the 23 years had gone in a flash."

She revealed that, while filming, the dog playing Monty came up to her with his paws and licked her face.

"After that long day we had a wonderful party," she said. "I danced my socks off!"

In gut-wrenching scenes, Zak sat on the sofa in Wishing Well cottage next to his wife, not realising that she had died.

Zak expressed his joy over finally marrying her again, but was left devastated when he turned to her and discovered that she was no longer breathing.

He said: "You’ll know that I’m doing my best for you and you’ll know it's because I love you.

"And you’ll know that for sure as I'll tell you every day – starting from now. I love you Lisa."
