Fourth ‘Avengers’ Title, Trailer, Release Date Revealed

Marvel Studios

After months of speculation we finally know the title of the fourth “Avengers” film and it turns out … it’s something people predicted ages ago. That’s right, your fourth “Avengers” film is subtitled … “Endgame.” This isn’t a huge surprise, even if you haven’t been scrolling through Reddit discussion threads looking for clues, as the title leaked on cinematographer Trent Opaloch’s official website earlier this year. (Also, it’s something that Doctor Strange says “endgame in “Avengers: Infinity War.” So there’s that.) Marvel Studios sneakily tweeted and posted the trailer on YouTube without the title, so you’d have to watch the moody two-minute piece. So why don’t we just do that now?
Pretty neat, huh?Chris Evans’ Captain America crying, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow plotting, Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner fretting, Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man floating and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye um, not being dead! Yay! Also, we love the button with Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang coming to Avengers HQ volunteering his services (not explained: how he gets out of the quantum realm, which is where we saw him last, adrift, at the end of “Ant-Man and the Wasp”). It’s a pretty perfect teaser and definitely sets things up nicely for the battle ahead (fans, based on leaked set photos, have already speculated about a certain amount of time travel-y business going down). Also the trailer ends on an unexpected word: “April.”
That’s right – the movie’s release date has slightly shifted. Instead of opening on May 3rd, it will now debut on April 26, 2019. (“Avengers: Infinity War” did a similar shuffle.) I think I speak for everyone when I say: the sooner the better. Thanos has a lot to answer for.
