Comedy drama series Get Shorty first aired back in 2017. The show was based on the 1990 Leonard Elmore novel of the same name. The Get Shorty TV series proved popular and led to two more series being commissioned – but what about the future of the show?
Will there be another series of Get Shorty?
US network Epix has yet to confirm whether it’s renewed Get Shorty for another outing.
On the flipside, there’s been no news of a cancellation either for Get Shorty.
Express.co.uk has approached network Epix for comment about a renewal and will update this article with any new information.
Since season three, lead star Chris O’Dowd has worked on a number of other projects such as Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth.
He also has several forthcoming projects which are in post-production including Hippie Hippie Shake, The Starling and Adventures of Super Frank.
When will Get Shorty season 4 be released?
Seasons one and two premiered in August 2017 and 2018 respectively and were 10 episodes each.
While the third outing debuted in October 2019 with only seven episodes in the run.
Should season four get the greenlight, fans could have something of a wait on their hands.
The coronavirus pandemic has led to a global shut down of the film and television industry with tentative steps being made to reopen the sector.
This has led to huge delays with releases pushed back, so season four of Get Shorty may not be on screens for some time.
The lack of renewal news is not promising either with fans in the dark about the future of the show.
Any renewal is going to be based on the show’s viewing figures.
Also, should the show return, its episode count could be shorter going by the third outing’s length.
Who will be in the cast of Get Shorty season 4?
Back in the frame would be Chris O’Dowd as former gangster and wannabe Hollywood movie producer Miles Daly.
Joining him would be Ray Ramano as washed up film producer Rick Moreweather, who is helping Miles.
Also, back could be Carolyn Dodd as Miles’ daughter Emma “Shorty” Daly, Sean Bridgers as Louis Darnell and Lidia Porto as Amara De Escalones.
Other returning cast members could be Goya Robles, Megan Stevenson and Lucy Walters.
Should season four go ahead, there could also be new cast members introduced into the fray.
What will happen in Get Shorty season 4?

The show wrapped things up with some plot strands left open, particularly with Miles who was still under suspicion from the police.
Also, he may have landed himself in trouble with a cartel and have to pay the price – something which is ripe for exploration.
Both Emma and Miles seemed to be in danger and not completely in the clear.
Meanwhile, Amara was revealed to be alive at the end, which could have repercussions on the story.
If season four has been given the go-ahead, then the show has more story left to tell and different directions it could go in.
