Having been missing from Avengers Infinity War, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye returned for Avengers Endgame with the five other original superhero team members. And now as his solo Disney+ show with Hailee Steinfeld is set to debut this week, the 50-year-old has reflected on his only viewing of the 2019 Marvel epic. Marvel fans will remember Avengers Endgame opened with Hawkeye’s family being turned to dust, having been killed in Thanos’ Snap.
An emotionally tortured Clint Barton spent the next five years as a Ronin inspired assassin, before being recruited in 2023 by Black Widow.
Going back in time, Hawkeye had to suffer the survivor’s guilt of obtaining the Soul Stone following Natasha’s sacrifice.
And after playing a pivotal role involving the Infinity Gauntlet in the final battle, he was finally reunited with his family.
Being the only Avenger of the original six not to get a solo movie, Avengers Endgame was a powerful ride for Renner’s character that he truly deserved.
Now as Renner gears up for his own Disney+ show, he looks back emotionally on the Avengers Endgame screening.
Speaking with Ali Plumb on BBC Radio 1’s Screen Time, the 50-year-old star said: “I saw it at the premiere.
“Usually I don’t, but that was just something to celebrate for all of us. Just a big…we were all laughing and weeping.
“It was a lot. It was a lot to do. I can’t, I will never watch that again. It was a very difficult experience man.”
Renner added: “We were all just sobbing… laughing. It was amazing. We were like audience members. It was just awesome to experience. Lovely, beautiful experience to share.”
Following Avengers Endgame, Hawkeye did go on to receive an uncredited voice cameo in Black Widow.
And following the film’s end credits scene, it’s clear Nat’s sister Yelena, played by Florence Pugh, will feature in his Disney+ show.
The post-credits sting saw Yelena at Nat’s grave where she’s recruited by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to hunt Hawkeye.

Pugh’s character has been told that Clint was responsible for her sister’s death when really she gave it willingly to save the universe.
The new Disney+ show finds the archer in New York after the Blip and sees him team up with Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.
There, the duo ends up fighting enemies from his time as Ronin, so he can get home to his family in time for Christmas.
Hawkeye’s first two episodes start streaming on Disney+ tomorrow.
