Heart-wrenching moment man, 73, breaks down in tears at father's grave on Long Lost Family – with a cruel twist | The Sun

A GUEST on Long Lost Family broke down in tears as he saw his father's grave for the first time.

Last night saw the second instalment of the twelfth series of the ITV show.

73-year-old James Ford was born in West Yorkshire and lived there with his mum as a child, but now lives in Carcassonne, France, with his wife Diana.

Growing up he would always ask about his biological dad, but was never told anything.

James tried to find out who his dad was through DNA websites, but had no luck.

Then when he tied the knot with Diana, his mother revealed his father's name – James Sydney Ford.

James asked for help from the Long Lost Family team to track down his dad, as well as his sister from his mum's side, which they successfully managed to do.

However they had to break the devastating news that James passed away aged 42 back in 1969.

James decided to pay a visit to his father's place of rest.

During the emotional scene, he walked up towards his grave and fought back the tears as he placed flowers next to his headstone.

"There you go dad," James said.

The headstone said: "In loving memory of a dead husband and dad James S. Foord

"Died 15th May 1969 aged 42 years. Too dearly loved ever to be forgotten."

His dad had left behind his wife and three children – James' siblings – and he was later reunited with them.

Earlier on in the episode James met his sister from his mum's side Joselyn Taylor, 68.

But he also got to meet Anne, Elizabeth and Ian with help from Long Lost Family.
