Hollyoaks actor Gregory Finnegan reveals 'upset' at sad death of beloved cat

Hollyoaks’ Gregory Finnegan has revealed that his missing cat has sadly died.

The actor, who plays James Nightingale, has taken to social media to share that his missing pet had been found, but the poor thing was in a ‘bad way’ and had to be put to sleep.

He told fans: ‘Strange night. My missing cat Jacko found his way home in a bad way and after a consultation with a vet had to be put to sleep. Thankful that I got to say goodbye to my best little bud who’s been with me through so much. Upset & depressed I stopped at a pub on the way home (1/2) (sic).’

He added a warm memory of the moggy and shared a positive ending to the evening as his team Tottenham Hotspur won their match and he credited his cat with having something to do with it.

He wrote: ‘(2/2) And remembered there was a game going on. Incredible scenes which left my shattered emotions further shredded. Gonna miss you Jacko, you watched me tear my hair out watching Spurs over the past 17 years and I’m going to credit you with the incredible comeback. (sic).’

Earlier this week he’d revealed he was ‘fearing the worst’ after realising the cat had gone missing.

He wrote on Instagram: ‘This old timer wandered out of the house at the weekend and hasn’t been seen since. Fearing the worst (sic)’

Fans shared their sympathies as fellow actor Daisy Wood-Davis branded the cat a ‘legend’.

She wrote: ‘Awwwww Greg. This is so shit, I’m so sorry! Is Jacko the cat that brought that huge fish back that time!? And went missing before but came back? If so, that cat was a bloody legend. Sending you and the fam love xxx.’
