Hollyoaks Sid star Billy Price life – EastEnders snub to Nickelodeon spin-off

Actor Billy Price has become a fan favourite on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, playing the role of troubled teenager Sid Sumner.

Sid was introduced to Hollyoaks as a guest character 2019, but thrilled fans when show bosses later promoted him to a show regular.

Many fans may not know the star had an impressive acting CV under his belt before landing a spot on the show.

Billy’s career began in theatre when he played a lost boy in Peter Pan and went on to perform in Oliver! And To Kill a Mockingbird.

His career went from strength to strength when he became a child star on Nickelodeon, and the Hertfordshire-born star hasn’t looked back since.

From his major snub with a rival soap, child star fame and his lavish trips off-camera, let’s take a look at Billy’s life away from the cameras

Nickelodeon Fame

Billy began his career as a child star back in 2018 when he played Jack in silent comedy series SHHH! for Comedy Central/Nickelodeon.

The show followed five mischievous students in the back of class try to make their school day more interesting.

Speaking about his time on the hit kids show, Billy revealed he was extremely proud to have work on a series that allowed children with hearing disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the series.

He told Tresa Magazine: “SHHH! is something that I am really proud to have worked on, the Comedy Central/Nickelodeon series was a silent comedy much like Mr Bean, which not only allowed it to be distributed worldwide, but meant that individuals who have hearing disabilities were able to submerse themselves into the world of TV Comedy which is something that is not done enough these [email protected]

He continued: “Reinforcing how powerful the industry that we work in is, we are able to allow the less fortunate to escape reality and enjoy the world of TV, Film and Theatre.”

EastEnders Snub

Despite finding his place as troubled teenager Sid Sumner in Hollyoaks, actor Billy also tried out for rival soap EastEnders – but was snubbed by the BBC series.

The audition took place after he was signed up to be a temporary character on Hollyoaks, but soon learned he was being brought in full-time.

“I actually auditioned for EastEnders. I auditioned for Bobby Beale. I've been for so many EastEnders auditions! They're so lovely over there," he told Digital Spy.

He continued: "I've been up for Bobby Beale and Hunter. I actually got quite far down into those auditions. I got quite far into the Bobby Beale – I think there was three others left.

"I didn't actually get the part, as you do as an actor. You don't get the part all the time.”

However, after learning he had landed a permanent role on Hollyoaks, Billy believed it was fate that he didn’t land a role in Albert Square.

"A couple of days after I didn't get the part, I got a call from my agent saying: 'They're going to promote your Hollyoaks character to a regular'. I was over the moon. Everything happens for a reason,” he added.

Lavish Trips

The 22-year-old soap star may be tackling some dramatic storylines on screen, but when he steps away from his role on the Channel 4 soap, Billy often shared snaps enjoying lavish trips to swanky holiday spots.

Earlier this year the star proved he was popular off-screen when he shared a picture from a sun-soaked trip to Marbella, Spain.

Billy can be seen dancing with his mates in front of a chaotic backdrop which included an umbrella reading ‘la fiesta!”.

He summed up the carnage in the caption, posting simply a devils face emoji.

Other posts from the trip so them enjoying their luxurious pool and posing infornt of a stunning backdrops of boats and water.

Another recent posts show Billy loading into a golf cart with several pals at the Strawberries and Cream Festival – The UK’s tastiest festival for music & youth culture.
