Around the World in 80 Days is the classic tale written by author Jules Verne in the 19th Century. The BBC is adapting the story this Christmas with former Doctor Who star David Tennant in the lead role of explorer Phileas Fogg. News of the adventure series first came in September 2020, announcing the reimagined version would air later the following year.

Much like the original story, set in the 1800s, Phileas makes a bet with his friends at the Reform Club unlike any other.
They wager him £20,000 – which would be nearing £2million in today’s money – to circumnavigate the world in 80 days.
Phileas agrees to do so and is accompanied by his French valet Passepartout (Ibrahim Koma) on his adventures.
But in the BBC adaptation, a new character has been added to join the ride of their lives.
