In addition to the century milestone, he revealed the episode would be one of 1,200 shows he has filmed for the small screen, including those when he hosted Saturday Kitchen.

Shortly after the announcement came a duo of past pictures, printed in black and white, which saw him in the countryside sitting in a car and then to the side of it.

He captioned them: "Throw back pic as it’s one my mother likes."

One fan quickly gushed: "So handsome Mr Martin," as the positive comments came flooding in.

His upload about his career milestone appeared just as popular, as he wrote: "Wow, we started @sat_jamesmartin with only 12 episodes.

"Saturday will be our 100th episode and a very special one at that!

"Thanks for watching the show and for all your support for all these years…

"The office reckons I’ve done over 1200 weekend shows over the years! Thank you all, you’ve kept me busy and continue to do so."

Back in 2016, James left hordes of foodies devastated when he quit his anchor role on Saturday Kitchen.

He told of the toll of presenting the series, and only having 10 days off in two years.

Although he now fronts a different Saturday morning show, it is filmed at his home, and pre recorded, which makes things a little easier.

Fans were elated to join in his celebrations, with one commenting: "Absolute pleasure James! Saturday mornings are meant for you, the only way to start my weekend."

Another then put: "Congratulations fella. Very well deserved."

A third continued: "Love the show. Long may it continue x."

One then surmised:  "Keep on going …. Saturdays wouldn't be the same without you xx"

Saturday Morning with James Martin is back on our screens again this weekend.

You can catch it on ITV at 9.25am until 11.30am.
