Jamie Oliver returns to his musical roots by secretly writing the theme to new TV show

JAMIE OLIVER had dreams of becoming a musician in his twenties but shelved them to become one of Britain’s best-loved chefs.

Now he’s living the dream as he’s secretly written the soundtrack to his new Channel 4 series.

The Naked Chef says the unlikely return to his musical roots came about as he started creating tunes while wife Jools and their five children slept.

He has now released the tunes, which he calls “sporadic music”, as the theme song and backing tracks to his new cooking show Together.

Jamie reignited his musical roots after inheriting a piano from his grandmother.

He said: “One of the things I put on the shelf at the age of 23 was music. I used to be a drummer in a band and when the Naked Chef thing kicked off, I had to make choices and reluctantly I shelved it.”

Jamie explained to Canadian podcast Q: “I’m not a good player but one of the things I love about life is about 11 o’clock at night when the kids are in bed and my wife falls asleep I tinker away at the piano for hours.

“It’s really relaxing.

“I was just trying to make music and noise that fitted the show, so we were sampling the kids and Buddy would do a few ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ and I knew I wanted it for Together.”

RUMOURS continue to swirl around Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Odudu and her dance partner Kai Widdrington.

Now there’s further proof that they’ve grown closer since they’ve been competing on the BBC1 dance contest – with the pro picking up some of the telly presenter’s bills.

AJ has revealed Kai cares so much about her he’s even paid for her dental treatment, as a result of indulging on too many sugary treats in between rehearsals.

She said: “I have so much chocolate and so many sweets one of my back teeth fell out. I had to go to the dentist and I forgot my purse, so I was like, ‘Come on Kai, cough up!’.

“He sorted me right out.”

The duo will this weekend be performing the Paso Doble to Game Of Survival by Ruelle.

I’m surprised AJ didn’t pick Sweet Dreams.

SOME turn to Tinder, others scout bars on a Friday night – but comic Lou Sanders went looking for love in a skate park.

Which perhaps explains why the 35-year-old funny woman ended up with a toyboy eight years her junior.

On The Russell Howard Hour on Sky Max tonight, she said: “In lockdown I sort of had a midlife crisis and started rollerskating.

Having not had a relationship for seven years, I started going out with somebody I met at the skate park. There is a bit of an age difference, but it is legal!

My first question to him was how old are you? So then he knew I fancied him.

“He said he was 26. My heart sank because I really was looking for 33 and upwards. I thought he was older because he had lines around his eyes.”

He’ll be thrilled to hear you say that.

THEY have a string of failed marriages behind them.

But Janine Butcher and Steve McDonald might not be losers in love for much longer if First Dates’ Fred Sirieix has his way.

In a sketch for BBC One’s Children In Need, the EastEnders and Corrie characters, played by Charlie Brooks and Simon Gregson, are set up on a date.

Janine is shocked when she finds out Steve has been married seven times, spitting out her drink. She says: “So you’re not afraid of commitment then?” He replies:

“Or the divorce courts.”

Children In Need is on November 19.
