Jason Donovan teases ’emotional’ Neighbours ending but fears expectations

Jason Donovan has opened up about the "emotional" Neighbours ending but has also confessed he doesn't want it to let viewers down.

The Aussie soap has been axed after 37 years and to mark its last episode, Jason and Kylie Minogue are making a special appearance as their fan favourite characters Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell.

So far not much is known about their Erinsborough return, but Jason was quizzed about it on The One Show.

"I'm not going to give too much away about the episode," he told hosts Alex Jones and Rylan Clark.

"But I can tell you it's going to happen, in what capacity, you are going to have to switch over to Channel 5 and watch."

The presenters were desperate for a few hints and begged Jason to tell them if the final scene would see him and Kylie arriving in Ramsay Street and announcing: "We're home!"

"I can't…" said Jason, before putting Rylan out of his misery by telling him he "could be close".

"There is a bit of denim involved, that's for sure!" he added. saying that was why he was wearing ripped jeans on the show.

"It's a throwback to 1988," he explained.

Jason, 54, went on: "It was emotional but it's filming and you know, it moves on.

"You'll have to wait and see."

The star continued: "I hope people are not… What I do hope is that the expectations aren't too big."

Neighbours started in 1985 and its end was confirmed earlier this year, when the show tweeted: "We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June."

The last ever instalment of the much-loved soap is due to be unveiled in August.
