Justin Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, might have moved on from the recent hand-holding controversy, but fans of the 7th Heaven alum aren’t quite ready to let it go. In case you missed it, Timberlake was recently spotted holding hands with his Palmer co-star, Alisha Wainwright, during a drunken night out at the bar. Due to Timberlake’s superstar status, photos were quickly taken and posted to the Internet. This led to fans and celebrities alike speculating about whether or not Timberlake had, in fact, cheated on his wife.

The rumor mill got so bad that the “Cry Me A River” took to his social media pages to address speculation. On December 5, 2019, he publically apologized to Biel while also maintaining that nothing happened with Wainwright. “I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people that I love. A few weeks ago, I displayed a strong lapse in judgment—but let me be clear—nothing happened between me and my costar,” Timberlake declared.

The 38-year-old then shared that he’d indulged in too much alcohol and he was not proud of the embarrassment he caused Biel and their son. “I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it,” Timberlake added.

But, while Timberlake may have moved past this situation, many fans of Biel aren’t ready to forgive and forget. On December 16, 2019, Biel took to her Instagram page to post a behind-the-scenes video from her Gaiam gift guide shoot. The video shows Biel smiling and balancing on an exercise ball whilst donning workout gear. Timberlake was quick to show his wife some love and commented with some encouraging emojis. “❤️😍❤️,” the “Can’t Stop The Feeling” artist wrote.
What was meant to be a sweet message of support quickly spiraled into something more sinister. Fans of Biel were outraged at Timberlake’s comment and were quick to make their ire known. “This is just bad tasting icing on the cake 🤢 you should have know better than to post this. It seems so fake,” one person wrote in response to Timberlake’s comment. “You don’t deserve her. You deserve someone like your mistress, 🚮” another person chimed in. “So desperate Ahahahahhaha comments and emojis aren’t gonna help you now! Go cry a river…,” another Instagram user sounded off, using Timberlake’s famous lyrics against him.

Other people felt personally offended that Timberlake referenced his alcohol intake when apologizing to Biel. They felt this was a paltry excuse for his behavior. “I HAD a lot of respect for JT. But Not anymore. I have been married 40 yrs this coming May. No amount of alcohol (which we like) is going to make us do what he did. No excuse. So I am really sad and disappointed in JT and so sad for Jessica. Her heart has to be broken as also her trust in him. That’s hard to get back,” one person wrote. “He blamed the alcohol lol what kind of the lame excuse… Alcohol don’t make you forget you have a beautiful wife and son,” another one of Biel’s fans sounded off.
Others resorted to using emojis just like Timberlake did. “She deserves to be LOVED!!! She deserves to be RESPECTED!!! She deserves better than you 🚫🐀🐍🚫,” an Instagram user wrote. Still, some of Timberlake’s fans rushed to his defense. “People act like you are doing this for show. You ALWAYS comment on your wife’s posts and flirt and show you’re proud of her. That’s love! Block out the hate JT!! ❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote, stating that Timberlake commenting sweetly on Biel’s posts was commonplace. No matter what did or didn’t happen between Timberlake and Wainwright, it’s up to Biel to decide how she wants to proceed in her marriage. We hope her fans will eventually realize that and respect her decision.
