Ken Morley 'fancied all the women' on Coronation Street

Coronation Street actor Ken Morley has reflected on his time on the cobbles, and recalled filming scenes with several actresses who also worked on the continuing drama.

The actor — who portrayed Reg Holdsworth in the ITV soap — spoke about a particular scene with co-star Barbara Knox — who plays Rita Tanner.

He told The Sun: ‘For some inexplicable reason Barbara was wearing this fantastically sexy crinoline dress, and without thinking about it, I got a bit hot and bothered.

‘As I waltzed out of camera shot, one of the floor managers came across to ask what was going on.

‘When I explained something had come up, he suggested we take a few minutes’ break.’

Reg had several love interests during his six-year stint on the ITV soap. He met Rita during a tea dance, and rigged a supermarket sweep event so that she could pick up the victory.

In addition to Rita, the character also made his feelings for Bet Gilroy (Julie Goodyear) known.

Speaking about Julie, Ken said: ‘She was another fantastic sex symbol and I often imagined her as a dominatrix — and she did at least slap me once.

‘I remember doing this scene where she was on a bed and I was on the floor and I decided to kiss her bare toes, then run my tongue up her legs.

‘As I reached her knee, Julie slapped me on the head and the whole place fell about laughing.

The Reg Holdsworth actor also mentioned how he ‘fancied’ Carolyn Reynolds, who was executive producer on the serial drama between 1991 and 1993.

He said: ‘I must confess, decades later I fancied the executive producer Carolyn Reynolds.

‘But we were both happily married and she was the boss.’

Ken began playing Reg in 1989, and featured regularly in the ITV soap until 1995.
