Line of Duty season 5 spoilers: Is Gill Biggeloe really H? Who is H?

Season five saw the return of Gill Biggeloe (played by Polly Walker) after she previously appeared in the show back in the third series during the investigation into Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes). Gill’s comeback to the Jed Mercurio series has prompted questions about why she’s suddenly in the frame again. Although her involvement in the case could be entirely innocent, there are theories floating about that she’s actually H.

Is Gill Biggeloe really H?

WARNING: This article contains major spoilers from Line of Duty season 5

Gill could very well be H given her seniority within the police force and being privy to lots of sensitive information.

She also seems to be doing some shady dealing and is usually having secret chats with PCC Rohan Sindwhani (Ace Bhatti).

Whenever Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) goes to see his bosses, she’s always there and we’re never quite sure why.

The character seemed to have more control and power this time around after her promotion to work for the Police and Crime Commissioner.

In season three, she was a legal counsel and even revealed she was hoping to bring down the number of police corruption convictions.

She told Hastings in that series: “Anti-corruption is a double-edged sword.

“We need to find just enough bent coppers to avoid accusations of a cover-up, but not so many that the public starts to wonder if the police can be trusted.”

Unsurprisingly, he was left angry and promptly showed her the exit as he continued his investigations.

Her return is not by accident either, there’s a reason she’s been brought back by writer Mercurio but just what that is still remains to be seen.

Whatever the reason, Gill is likely to be an important figure to Line of Duty.

Gill also seems to be have got involved quite deeply with Hastings and is well aware of his situation, so she could be pulling strings and manipulating him for her own ends.

Both on an emotional and professional level, Gil is trying to get her claws into Hastings. Could she trying to get him to do her bidding?

She’s also previously called on him to retire from AC-2, prompting questions about why she wanted him out of the picture so badly.

Many Line of Duty fans think Hastings could be H but Gill may well be the real puppet master with the AC-12 head simply a pawn in her bigger game.

So far many people think H is a male but the biggest twist could be that the figure is actually female and a lawyer rather than a senior police officer? It would certainly been a good twist but perhaps it’s too obvious.

Line of Duty is also going to see the introduction of new character Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin), who will be featuring heaving in the final two instalments of season five.

Could Patricia have some sort of connection to H or Gill? She’s only been described as a senior anti-corruption detective brought in from outside AC-12 but she could be under the instructions of H.

Line of Duty airs on BBC One on Sundays at 9pm
