Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall forced to close Newcastle bar after Covid alert

LITTLE Mix's Jade Thirlwall has been forced to close her Newcastle bar after they received a Covid alert.

Arbeia Bar in Ocean Road, South Shields, shut their doors yesterday after staff and management were contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

They updated fans with a statement on their Facebook page, which apologised to customers for the inconvenience.

They wrote: "Due to staff and management being contacted by track and trace we have made the decision to close this weekend, putting the safety of both our staff and customers first.

"We apologise in advance to any of our customers who are booked in this weekend.

"We will be back open for business from next Thursday, July 8 and will update you with anything necessary via our socials."

They optimistically concluded: "We hope you have the best weekend, see you next week!"

It comes one week after Arbeia's famous landlady visited the venue during a trip home to visit her family.

In a series of social media posts, 28-year-old Jade could be seen enjoying drinks and live music at the bar.

The Little Mix singer launched Arbeia in early 2020, and suffered a blow when she was forced to close it just months later due to Covid restrictions.

They said last September: "We have tried our best but unfortunately it is no longer possible for us to keep our doors open.

“This isn’t goodbye forever, we will be back (with a bang) the way we do best, but we are unable to confirm when this will be."

They have re-opened when possible in accordance with government guidelines, and will hopefully be back in business next week as planned.
