Lola devastates Billy and Zack makes a promise to Whitney in EastEnders tonight

Emotions are running high in EastEnders tonight (Tuesday April 25) in the wake of Zack Hudson’s (James Farrar) announcement to the Queen Vic; as well as Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) bad news.

Viewers previously saw Zack tell the gathered punters of the pub that he had been diagnosed with HIV, after angry behaviour from Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) prompted him to speak out.

In the episode that follows, the locals reel from what he has said, and various responses – some from support and some from a place of misunderstanding and ignorance – follow.

Back at home, Martin Fowler (James Bye) comforts Zack and implores him to look to his future with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and not rush into anything, after his recent discussions about trying again for a baby.

Zack apologises to Whitney for rushing her and promises to go slow.

At Walford East, Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) makes Ravi (Aaron Thiara) feel small when he reads him the riot act about being so ignorant about HIV.

His comments have caused a stir but he is soon abashed by what he has said; can he make amends.

Elsewhere, when Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) excitedly talks about taking the family for a summer holiday in Portugal, Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) is forced to tell him the truth – she only has months to live.

After his angry and devastated reaction, Lola is distraught and later tells Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) that with time running out, she needs to get some essential things in order. Most importantly, she wants him to adopt Lexi.

Meanwhile, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) advises Kim (Tameka Empson) to fight for Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) and do whatever it takes to make things up to him.

When Howie comes downstairs, Kim launches into a genuine, heartfelt apology before suggesting that maybe Howie should leave her if he can’t forgive her.

He is left with a big decision to make as a result.

Denise’s own relationship is not doing much better; will Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) take heed of her call for couples therapy?
