BBC Breakfast was hosted by Louise Minchin and Dan Walker on Monday morning, however the pair clashed when they began discussing celebrations. Louise hit out at her BBC co-presenter live on-air after pointing out he had recently been absent for her leaving party.
After watching some footage of Team GB’s Paralympians partying upon their return to the UK, Louise noted how nice it was to see people out celebrating.
The presenter remarked: “It’s so nice to see people out enjoying themselves.”
“It’s given me some inspiration for your leaving party that clip,” Dan commented.
However, Louise was quick to pull up her co-star, saying: “Well you missed the leaving party.”
“Well, one of them,” Dan replied, in a desperate attempt to defend his actions.
Louise laughed as her co-host said: “When you say missed, right when you say missed…”
But, Louise interrupted: “You were busy doing Strictly.”
“Well not busy, I had to. You know what it’s like,” Dan responded.
“No I don’t. I don’t know what it’s like,” Louise said, teasing her co-star.
Dan insisted: “You’re aware of my love and devotion to you Louise.”
Later on in the programme, Louise teased Dan further about the part he missed out on.
She said: “It was really fun Dan. You did miss out. I’m sorry about that, but you did. What was the excuse?”
Dan explained: “It’s not a terrible excuse because obviously we are a good partnership. But, this was the only time…”
However, Louise interrupted her co-star again: “Oh so you’re finding a new partner already?”
Dan said: “I had to meet my new Strictly partner. And the reason – lots of people are saying ‘why have you met your partner already?’
“Because of the pandemic last year, what they did when they did Strictly was, you met your partner beforehand and they filmed it and then they showed that on the launch night.
“So, it’s launch night for Strictly this Saturday so everybody’s already met their partners.
“But, I’m sworn to secrecy. Otherwise the Strictly ninjas will come and get me,” he joked.
Dan continued: “So the only reason, Louise, I wasn’t at your party was because I was meeting my new partner for however long that lasts. Probably about two weeks.”
“Well, luckily for you there’s another one planned,” Louise added.
Dan asked: “So, I can come to the second one?”
“I don’t know. Hopefully!” Louise exclaimed.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
