Love Is Blind star reveals one thing all contestants did in the pod but was never shown

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from the whole series of Love Is Blind.

Love Is Blind dominated Netflix when it first dropped onto the streaming platform and for three weeks, fans of the experimental dating show were eager to find out who walked down the aisle, said “I do” and left as husband and wife. Following the extremely dramatic finale which saw Giannina Gibelli run out of the venue, fall down a hill and then tear up her dress all before confronting Damien Powers over why he refused to marry her, there were apparently many scenes which viewers never got to see.

The show took on 30 singletons all hoping to find the one and have their happy-ever-after, with the premise they date one another, list the potential matches in priority order until they are left with one or two they are seriously interested in.

This took place in a series of rooms called the Pods, whereby the singletons never actually saw one another until they accepted a proposal.

This meant any emotional connection was based on thoughts, feelings and communication, rather than physical attraction.

One person who took part in the social experience was Lexie Skipper, who got engaged but didn’t make it to the final five couples.

After explaining how she had been “contacted on Instagram” to take part in Love Is Blind she said the experience to begin with was similar to “speed dating”.

“It’s the most dates I’ve ever been on in my life!” She told Cosmopolitan UK . “Every meeting lasted for seven minutes and at the end of the day, everybody ranked their dates from 1 – 15.”

From then on, the number of dates each singleton went on decreased, with the length of the time you spent with that date increasing.

The producers held the power to knock those on the bottom off each singletons list off.

“Essentially, it was a bit like an algorithm, and producers were matching up your priority list with other people’s priority lists, and looking at who was high on each other’s matches,” Lexi added.

Lexie’s romantic connection came four days into the experiment with 27-year-old Wesley Baer, a sales manager from Atlanta.

I knew in my gut that he was the right person for me,” she remarked.

By day ten, Westley proposed to Lexie and he made it a special occasion to remember by decorating her pod with flowers, cheesecake and wine – something which apparently contestants are allowed to do for each other, but it was never show to viewers in the final cut.

“A couple of days earlier, I had decorated his pod with Christmas decorations after he mentioned how it hadn’t been a big thing for him growing up,” Lexie revealed.

“In return, he filled my pod with my favourite things, and I walked in and knew he was going to propose. He asked me to marry him through the wall, and I said yes.”

Lexie and Westley seem to be one of two couples which got engaged in the process but never made it to the mini-vacation in Mexico.

A producer apparently explained how they wouldn’t be taking part in the next stage of filming and for Lexie, it was a “really hard” thing to take in.

“I don’t really know why it happened, they just said they didn’t have the capacity to cover our relationship, and that our journey on the show was over,” she continued.

This didn’t mark the end of the couple’s relationship, they spent a lot of time without the cameras, but Westley’s decision to move to Bali for six months changed things for them.

Lexie said they kept in contact with one another, talking every day and explained how they are “definitely in a good place”.

As for whether or not they are still engaged, Lexie didn’t confirm or deny.

  • Love Is Blind reunion special: How to watch the Love Is Blind reunion

It comes after series creator Chris Coelen revealed his surprise at the success the show had at finding true matches for so many singletons.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Chris said eight couples in total got engaged.

As a producer, I was kind of nervous like, is anybody actually gonna get engaged? Is anyone going to make it to the altar?” He explained.

“We had actually more success on this show than we were even able to document.”

Love Is Blind is available to watch on Netflix now.
