Love Island will reportedly return to our screens in a just few weeks.

Fans of the ITV2 dating show don't have long to wait as reports claim the launch show will be hitting our screens on Monday, June 6.

A source told The Sun: "Love Island is coming back with a bang and it will begin on the second full week in June.

"The schedules are being put together now and fans can expect a long, hot summer of fun from the villa from June 6, filming for the promotional adverts is beginning in the next couple of weeks and the ads will start in May.

"This series is going to be the longest ever and it’s from a brand new location so it’s all very exciting."

There will reportedly be big changes when the show returns for its eighth series later this year, including a brand new villa.

An ITV spokesperson told Daily Star: "It is too early to confirm scheduling for the 2022 series."

The beloved dating show was previously filmed at a property near Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, in the east of the Spanish island, however, it became unavailable this time around, forcing chiefs to look for a replacement location.

ITV boss Kevin Lygo addressed the matter during a briefing following the publication of ITV’s annual profits.

He explained: "We didn’t own it, we rented it, and we are choosing a new house for this summer so that is all secrecy. It is going to be marvellous."

Asked whether the show will be staying in its long-standing home in the Balearic Islands, he answered: "Yes, it is going to be in Majorca. It is going to be a great one (series)."

Love Island, hosted by Laura Whitmore, has been a huge hit for ITV2, and the first winter series, filmed in South Africa, aired in early 2020.

The series returned to Majorca last year after a summer off due to the pandemic with lovebirds Liam Reardon and Millie Court crowned as winners.

Recent reports suggest that Laura will be returning to present the new series.

An insider told the publication "Talks have now begun with Laura and her reps.

"Looks like she will be back this year, even though the vote in her favour is far from unanimous."
