Mary's outburst in Emmerdale as she discovers how much money Faye got away with

Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) had her heart broken in last night’s (May 2) episode of Emmerdale when she discovered her partner, Faye (Jane Gurnett) was actually a con artist.

And yes, when Mary is sad, we are sad with her.

Faye alleged to have ran a women’s shelter in Ecuador, which was in need of urgent cash after a fire, with Mary having helped her plan a fundraiser, which made over £2,000.

Suzy (Martelle Edinborough), however, started to suspect that there was more to Faye than meets the eye after she insisted on a bank transfer to her personal account as opposed to that of the charity, with subsequent scenes seeing her relay her suspicions to a stunned Mary.

Mary refused to believe Suzy, but after digging a little deeper herself, she was faced with the truth – Faye never loved Mary, she was only with her for the money.

And it was a lot of money.

Tonight (May 3), Mary sat with Rhona (Zoe Henry) as she recalled all of the times that she had given Faye some cash. From donations for blankets and supplies to a new phone, Mary had given Faye a huge amount of her own funds, and the way she felt about the situation left her determined to get it all back.

Going through a breakup is tough. After the sadness comes the anger, and Mary was very angry indeed.

She was throwing around the belongings that she had bought for her trip away, feeling devastated that she never sussed Faye out, despite her journalistic and investigative background.

All Rhona could do was sit and watch. She tried to tell Mary that counselling is a good idea, but she didn’t agree, adamant that she wasn’t the person to sit down and talk about her problems.

After a trip to the pub and a chat with Suzy, Mary felt different.

She sat with Rhona and Marlon (Mark Charnock) and told them how much she loves them, daunted by the fact she’s lost so much money, and no doubt hoping that the police will do enough to catch Faye before she can steal more money from someone else.
