Max Turner (Paddy Bever) has been spending time at an STC in Coronation Street, after the storyline involving Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron) and his extremism gang.
Max was groomed and manipulated into joining Griff’s gang when he was feeling isolated from his family. The leader was able to make Max believe all manner of horrific views, including that people who aren’t white and British do not belong in this country.
Gradually, as Max got in deeper, things started to get darker. Watched on by undercover cop Spider (Martin Hancock), Max created a series of propaganda videos for the group’s social media, attended a camping trip that resulted in him being in hospital after a bomb went off in Griff’s car, and was consistently racist to the likes of Daryan (Twana Omer) and Alya (Sair Khan).
Max began to realise the severity of the situation at the start of this year, when he realised a gang member had planted a bomb in the Speed Daal van.
As he tried his best to help alongside the likes of Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Gary (Mikey North), Max was horrified when he learnt that Alya had ended up in hospital after she drove the van to a clear ground so the bomb could explode, and the damage wouldn’t be as big.

Max ended up in prison after Blake, a teenager he went to school with, attempted to stab Maria in Speed Daal, but ended up injuring Alya instead.
It became apparent that Blake had been watching Max’s videos online, resulting in his arrest.
Since then, Max has been adamant he needs to face the consequences for his actions. He attempted to change things with Alya, but she wasn’t prepared to forgive him for everything that he had done.
However, in upcoming episodes, it appears that Max may get another opportunity to make amends with those on the cobbles, as David (Jack P Shepherd) tells Gail (Helen Worth) that Max is being considered for early release.
In the STC, as David chats to Max, he makes sure his son knows not to get his hopes up, but will Max get the release he wants?
Or will he be behind bars for longer?
‘His sentence is nothing like she thought it would be’, Sair Khan recently told Metro.co.uk as she teased the moment Max returns home.
‘The last time she saw him, they didn’t end on good terms, she did say that she only saw him in prison for her own healing, not his, she feels that nothing has changed when he gets out, he’s still living next door, she’s still coming to terms with it all as well. I don’t think she is over everything that happened.’
