After popular demand following its premiere last year, McDonald and Dodds has returned for series two. There are another three cases that DCI McDonald and DS Dodds have to solve this time around, each one trickier than the next. Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about the cast of McDonald and Dodds series two.

Who is in McDonald and Dodds season 2 cast?

Lauren McDonald – Tala Gouveia

Actress Tala Gouveia is behind the ambitious DCI Lauren McDonald who moved from London to Bath in the first season.

This is by far Gouveia’s biggest role to date, having minor parts in shows such as Fit, Tracey Ullman’s Show, Holby City and Plebs.

She has had some experience working in children’s animations as well, voicing characters in Scream Street and Go Jetters.

Gouveia made her television debut as a Nurse Green in a few episodes of EastEnders back in 2013.

DS Dodds – Jason Watkins

Starring opposite Gouveia is actor Jason Watkins as the cautious and puzzle-loving DS Dodds.

Watkins is one of Britain’s most celebrated actors, taking on a number of diverse roles throughout his acting career.

Some of these include Des, The Crown, Trollied, Watership Down, Safe House, Taboo and The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.

According to his IMDB page, McDonald and Dodds is his latest role with no immediate plans for any other shows.

Chief Superintendent John Houseman – James Murray

Another familiar face starring in McDonald and Dodds is actor James Murray.

He portrays the boss of the titular characters Chief Superintendent John Houseman, a part he will reprise in series two.

Murray has also been in a plethora of TV shows including Primeval, Cutting It, Chaos, Cucumber, Suspects and Age Before Beauty.

He also started his career in soaps, having appeared in a handful of episodes of Coronation Street as Sandy Hunter.

One of his most memorable was in EastEnders as villain Steve Owen which he starred in for four years.

Some of his other parts were in Serious and Organised, Growing Rich and Family.

Roy Gilbert – Rob Brydon

Actor and comedian Rob Brydon will also be in the first episode of McDonald and Dodds series two.

He will portray Roy Gilbert from the Air Incident Investigation Agency who will share plenty of quirks with Dodds, unbeknown to either of them.

Brydon is the host of BBC panel show Will I Lie To You? but is fondly known for Gavin and Stacey’s Bryn West.
For the past decade, Brydon has also been starring in the comedy travel series The Trip alongside comedian Steve Coogan.

Doreen – Sharon Rooney
