A prominent crew member has confirmed the popular Spanish series is starting to wind down production from the set of Money Heist season five. They took to Instagram to confirm the news and were met with several tearful reactions from fans of the successful Netflix drama.
Art director Abdon Alcañiz has confirmed the fifth season of Money Heist has reached its final week of production.
The crew member has contributed to the series’ set design since La Casa De Papel began on the Spanish network Antenna 3 in 2017.
After becoming a major hit in Spain, Netflix have since introduced the series to international audiences and revived the series for its third, fourth and fifth instalments.
Production on Money Heist’s last outing began in Madrid in August last year, and has finally started to wind down.
Cast members such as Pedro Alonso, Itziar Ituño and Miguel Herrán have already confirmed they have wrapped their final scenes over the last few weeks.
Series lead Álvaro Morte also confirmed his departure with an emotional farewell to his role as the criminal mastermind known as The Professor.
Money Heist fans have now received the clearest indication yet that the series is well and truly coming to an end.
Alcañiz confirmed the news on Monday, May 10 by taking to Instagram with a nostalgic behind-the-scenes look at the incomplete set from the series’ first season.

He captioned his latest post: “Last week… five years ago it started!!”
The art director posted a subsequent still from the series and added simply: “The end!!!”
His updates from the set of season five were naturally met with emotional reactions from Money Heist’s most devoted fans.
One of Alcañiz’ followers wrote: “We’ll miss you guys. Thank you for all.”

When the news was posted on Reddit, a second fan said: “I’m so ready for it!!”
While another excited viewer replied: “I can’t wait for SEASON 5, gonna be INSANEEE.”
New episodes of Money Heist haven’t emerged since the Spanish phenomenon’s fourth outing was released on Netflix this time last year.
The season ended with a dramatic conclusion as The Professor’s hideout was infiltrated by disgraced inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri).
Meanwhile, much of the audience is still fuming following the untimely death of fan favourite Nairobi (Alba Flores).
As the wait for Money Heist’s final part continues, Netflix have assured subscribers that the last ten episodes will be released before the end of 2021.
However, with significant post-production stages still to come, season five isn’t expected to arrive before September at the earliest.
Money Heist seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
