Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) hasn’t seen old flame and colleague Rachel (Jordana Spiro) since she headed to Florida at the end of season two. Ozark’s resident money launderer clearly had a soft spot for the owner of the Blue Cat Lodge owner but their relationship was always destined to fail given Marty’s manipulation of the business to launder money and a callous blackmail plot from Agent Roy Petty (Jason Butler Harner). However, could actor Spiro be heading back to the Netflix drama after a huge social media clue?

Rachel has barely been given a mention in Ozark since Marty sent her packing to Florida in order to seek help for drug and alcohol addiction.

In her absence, season three of Ozark saw Marty and Wendy have to deal with the threat of Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) as she tried to turn Omar Navarro (Felix Solis) and the cartel against them.

They also had the presence of local queenpin Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) lingering over them so the Byrdes had more than their fair share of challenges to battle rather than checking up on Rachel it seems.

But that could all change in season four as, for the first time since 2018, actor Spiro has taken to social media to promote the series.

Earlier this month, Spiro shared the trailer for Ozark season four to her 11.5k Instagram followers.

The actor simply captioned the clip: “OZARK S4. January 21. Happy New Year!”

And inevitably it didn’t take long for excited fans to think this was Spiro’s way of confirming her comeback for the final season.

Jonah Byrde star Skylar Gaertner also did little to quash the speculation as he replied: “Happy New Year Jordana! Here we go….”

And Ozark fan and Instagram user @missdotholla added: “Yassssss you’re back!”

“Yes! Glad to know you’re coming back. You were so great last season,” @scott_honea also commented.

While @nadegejosna also excitedly typed: “WOW YOU’RE back. Happy New Year to you and MD Spitzer.”

“HOPE TO SEE YOU IN THIS SEASON [Fire emoji],” @miralles_rod commented while @octaviodm_ weighed in: “Happy New Year Jordana. Hope you appear in this season.” (Sic)

So could fans’ hopes be met if this is indeed Spiro’s way of confirming her comeback?

And if so, what impact will Rachel have on Marty and Wendy as they continue to work with the Navarro Cartel and FBI agent Maya Miller (Jessica Frances Dukes) while fending off Darlene?

One thing that is for sure is fans will have to wait until season four drops to see if Rachel does return as she’s absent from the action-packed promo for the fourth and final run.

However, there are still plenty of explosive scenes in the season four, part one trailer which tease what’s to come.

In it, fans see Omar toy with the idea of leaving the cartel and needs Marty and Wendy to arrange a deal with Maya.

Elsewhere, Darlene, Wyatt (Charlie Tahan) and Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) look a formidable force after the young Langmore cut ties from Marty and Wendy in season three.

The trailer also confirms the return of the likes of Nelson (Nelson Bonilla), Charlotte Byrde (Sofia Hublitz), Three Langmore (Carson Holmes) and many more.

Ozark season 4, part 1 premieres on Netflix on January 21.
