After a wait of almost two years, Better Call Saul made its big return on Monday, April 18 with two new episodes. The show airs weekly on AMC and eventually, on Netflix. But when exactly will Better Call Saul Season 6 be on Netflix? While nothing has been confirmed, past trends indicate when it could become available.
When we think ‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6 will hit Netflix
Usually, Netflix will add a season of Better Call Saul just before the premiere of the next one. Better Call Saul Season 5, for example, was added to the library on April 4 — two weeks before the season 6 premiere. So far, there hasn’t been any official word on when Better Call Saul Season 6 will hit Netflix. However, it is likely to take a year, which would put the release date around April of 2023.
This season is ‘bloody and painful’
This season is the final chapter in the story of scummy lawyer Saul Goodman, which began in the 2008 series Breaking Bad. At the end of the original series, viewers watched as Saul left his life in Albuquerque behind to assume a new identity as Gene Takovic, but what happened next was a mystery.
It turns out that he’s been living a mundane life in Omaha, Nebraska. He spends his days working at a Cinnabon and reliving his glory days by watching his old commercials. Gene has completely isolated himself out of fear that someone will find out his true identity, which became a reality last season when a creepy cab driver named Jeff recognized him.
Spooked, Gene considered running again. But ultimately, he decided to stay and resolve the matter himself.
Bob Odenkirk, who plays the character, teased that Gene will once again become Saul to save himself.
“We watched Jimmy McGill get beat around for five years, and he gains and loses some sense of his ethical compass,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “He doesn’t have much of one, but sometimes he has it, and sometimes it comes back. But to get that last bit of ethical compass cut out of his brain, it’s some deep surgery and it’s gonna be bloody and … painful. But in the end, he loses it and he becomes Saul, so everything works out great.”
‘Better Call Saul’ also has other storylines to tie up
Additionally, the show has to reveal what happens to some of the characters in Saul’s orbit. This notably includes Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), who is heading down such a dark path that many viewers can’t see her surviving. Even Saul with his shady ways has concerns, which should say a lot.
There’s also the question of what happened to Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton). At first, many people thought he would die because of a quote in Breaking Bad, but that changed when Lalo faked his death in season 5. Now, he’s going after Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), who’s running for his life.
It’s a must watch, is what we’re saying. So you’d better check it out.
