Sally Nugent appeared to roll her eyes at Jon Kay as they discussed what was coming up on Wednesday’s BBC Breakfast. However, Jon couldn’t resist telling an owl-related joke when Sally mentioned Rachel Riley was coming onto the show to chat about “Thank you Day”.

As he explained what viewers had in store, Jon began: “We will have all the headlines looking ahead to the budget at eight o’clock.”

Sally chipped in: “And the Countdown presenter, Rachel Riley will be here with us this morning to tell us all about Thank You Day.

“A whole day dedicated to showing our appreciation to those who do so much for us whether that’s your mum, your bin man, the postman, or nurses at your local hospital.”

“Maybe there’s somebody you’d like to thank through Breakfast this morning,” Jon continued.

“If so you can get in touch and thank them here.”

As the phone number appeared on the screen, the presenter added: “You can use our new WhatsApp number… the number is on your screen.

“Or just flick open the camera on your phone, don’t take a wildlife picture but just scan that QR code.

“And it will take you through to automatically start a conversation with us.”

Sally reminded viewers: “And of course, you can still get in touch by email and Twitter as well.”

“Twitter- Twoo,” Jon joked as he added: “It’s coming up to eight o’clock.”

Although, Sally wasn’t impressed by Jon’s awkward joke as she turned away and rolled her eyes.

“He’s done it again, everyone,” the presenter said before Jon issued an apology.

“Sorry,” Jon laughed as they pair continued with the rest of the show.

Elsewhere on the programme, Jon and Sally spoke with Oscar winners, James Martin, Ross White and Tom Berkeley, who chatted about their recent victory.

The family of Northern Ireland actor James have been celebrating Oscars success with An Irish Goodbye.

Ahead of BBC Breakfast, Jon took to social media to inform his followers about Wednesday’s instalment.

He penned: “On Wednesday’s Budget Day #BBCBreakfast What will the Chancellor’s plans mean for you?

“Our BBC experts will explain @NinaWarhurst @faisalislam @hanrmiller @nickeardleybbc

“Plus strikes, Norfolk cliff collapse & tips from the new Wildlife Photographer of the Year.”
