Spoilers: Karen refuses to believe Gray killed Chantelle in EastEnders

Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) was left fuming in EastEnders tonight (September 24) at Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) after he suggested that Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) played a part in Chantelle’s (Jessica Plummer) death.

Mitch was devastated following the discovery that Chantelle had died, but his interest was soon piqued by Kheerat Panesar’s (Jaz Deol) showdown with Gray in the middle of the Square.

He set about getting to the bottom of things, and Kheerat soon filled him in on his theories.

In tonight’s episode, Kheerat revealed how he and Chantelle were planning on running away together, as she was unhappy with Gray.

Mitch was stunned by the revelation, as he attempted to process everything Kheerat had said.

However, things took quite the turn when Kheerat revealed that he believes Gray found out about Chantelle’s escape plan, and that an altercation ensued.

He asked Mitch if he believed such a thing might have been possible, but Mitch ran off — clearly perturbed by Kheerat’s suggestion.

He later broached the subject with Karen — asking if she thought it possible — but Karen was horrified at the claim that Gray had anything to do with her daughter’s death.

Instead, she pointed the finger at Kheerat, and then turned against Mitch — berating him for making such an accusation, while reminding him that it was she who raised Chantelle.

She ordered Mitch out of the flat, and proceeded to break down.

Will Karen come to realise that Kheerat’s theory is more than just a theory?
