Strictly Come Dancing’s Greg Wise was favourite to be booted out of the competition this week so it was a surprise to Karen Hauer when they sailed through to week four. When their name was called out by host Tess Daly, Greg could be heard shouting after it appeared Karen had hit him in excitement.
The pair were seen embracing before Karen told viewers: “Thank you,” and blew a kiss to those watching at home.
As greg touched his heart, Karen could be seen hitting him on the chest, which was picked up by his microphone.
As the red light above them went out, Greg exclaimed: “Ow!” as Karen giggled.
Speaking to Claudia Winkleman later in the show, she said: “Greg what does it feel like being under those red lights waiting to hear your name?”
“It’s really hard. It’s like we’re waiting for the thunderbolt of Thor,” he replied. “Is Thor the thunderbolt?”
Claudia laughed: “Let’s go with Thor. Karen, you were so happy my favourite thing was I heard you on your mic that you pinched him.
“All we heard was Greg go ‘Ow!’”
Greg exclaimed: “Bond does go out a lot but it’s always cut out.”
Claudia continued: “You must be over the moon?” as Karen smiled: “I am. I’m sorry I punched you so hard, I really am.
“And then I got my earring stuck on his shirt. But it was a relief. Really, I want to thank everybody at home for voting. Thank you so much.”
Later in the evening it was revealed Katie McGlynn and Gorka Marquez were the second couple to leave.
Speaking of her time on the show, Katie said: “I have absolutely loved my time, I am so happy I got to be Cruella, and dance with this amazing guy, I have loved every second of it.
“Thank you for being an amazing partner, we have laughed so much, and I get to walk away with an amazing friend.
“Thanks so much for teaching me in your funny ways, we have had so much fun.”
Gorka added: “I have loved it, the love that she has for the show.
“I think talking for myself, and all the pros, when we come to the show, it isn’t just about someone who can dance, it is someone who wants to learn, who wants to improve, and makes us love what we do, and makes our job enjoyable and easy.
“That’s what I had with Katie and I will never forget this experience, it’s been incredible.”
Katie faced Judi Love in the dance off despite neither couple being at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Anton Du Beke was the only judge to save Katie in the dance off meaning Judi went through to week four.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 7pm.
