Who is at the top of the Strictly 2021 leaderboard?

AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington – 38

AJ will be back with a vengeance this week following her disappointing Pasodoble.

She and partner Kai found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard as the judges felt it was not the dance for her.

Fans had accused the show of “throwing her under the bus” with the routine, and she ended up slipping part-way through.

Tonight, she wowed the judges with a Waltz to Edelweiss from The Sound Of Music.

Shirley Ballas said it was: “Simplistic, stripped down and perfectly executed.” This was the highest Waltz score of the series.

Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice –

Rose and Giovanni set the bar high with their breathtaking Couple’s Choice performance last week.

Their silent routine made Strictly history and there was not a dry eye in the room.

This week they will be taking on a joyful Quickstep to Disney favourite, Love Is An Open Door from Frozen.

Rose will be embracing the role of Anna for the tricky routine.

Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin –

Tilly and Nikita found themselves in the dance-off once more last week, but their confidence has not been knocked.

The young TV chef has bounced back like always and is ready to take to the dancefloor to impress the judges.

She and her partner Nikita are dancing their Couple’s Choice routine to Revolting Children from Matilda.

Gordon Ramsay’s daughter recently expressed her excitement as she watched the theatre show when she was 10 years old and fell in love.

Taking to Instagram she said: “Not long now until me and @nikita__kuzmin get to dance to a song from my all-time favourite musical MATILDA!! So excited for tomorrow night.”

Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova –

Dan and Nadiya were once again saved by the public, despite an interesting mix of scores for their American Smooth.

The BBC Breakfast host said he had approached judge Craig Revel Horwood after the show to address his scoring, as he received a ‘four’.

This has only made him more determined to impress Craig with his Charleston to Good Morning, from Singin’ In The Rain.

The BBC presenter updated fans on his Instagram account, declaring he had mastered the swivel.

John Whaite and Johannes Radebe –

John and Johannes have continued to perform consistently throughout the series and the Bake Off star remains a favourite to win.

They impressed the judges with their sassy Samba and are changing things up with a Viennese Waltz this weekend.

The pair will be dancing to Chim Chim Cher-ee from Mary Poppins.

On Instagram, he said: “I can’t wait to get out on that dance floor and leave all my woes in the sidelines. It’s a very therapeutic process this dancing, let me tell you.”

Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu – 32

Rhys and Nancy topped the leaderboard last week having received a perfect score of 40 for their Charleston.

The judges thought it was the perfect dance for the CBBC presenter as he was able to utilise all of his energy.

This week he danced the Jive to Footloose and even though it was high energy, he made a mistake.

The judges picked up on his footwork, but it did not dampen his spirits and he was happy with his performance.

Claudia Winkleman said he “did it justice”.

Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden –

Tom and Amy are fan-favourites this season and the McFly star has had plenty of support from his followers.

He has shown signs of improvement each week and could definitely be in the running to reach the final.

This week he will have the perfect opportunity to impress with his Couple’s Choice routine to On My Own from Les Misérables.

The musician has been practising each dance with his wife Giovanna, setting him in good stead for tonight.

There has been a number of twists ahead of tonight’s show as Craig has been recovering from Covid at home.

He has been replaced by Cynthia Erivo, who will use her expertise to share tips with the couples.

Their scores will only make some difference as it will be left down to the public to decide who they wish to save.

Those who find themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard may be in luck when it comes to the public vote.
