Susanna Reid has announced that she’s set to take a summer break from Good Morning Britain.
The presenter, who appeared on the show alongside Ben Shephard, will be replaced throughout the school summer holidays as she takes a well-earned break.
Chatting to Ben about sabbaticals, the 50-year-old revealed she’ll be taking one of her own, adding: ‘Today’s my last day.’
‘Happy days!’ Ben laughed, before insisting: ‘No, we’ll miss you.’
Here’s hoping Susanna got a better goodbye behind the scenes!
Susanna has been hosting GMB since 2014, presenting alongside Piers Morgan before he left the show.
The main presenters of ITV’s morning shows, including Susanna on GMB and Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, usually take a break for the school summer holidays, including six weeks for the summer holidays, and a week for half terms.
Meanwhile, Susanna’s co-host Ben was recently forced to take an unexpected break after suffering an agonising leg injury.
The presenter, 46, underwent an operation after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament or ACL – a ligament that helps stabilise the knee joint – in his right leg while playing football. He also tore his meniscus, the piece of cartilage that provides a cushion between your thighbone and shinbone.
He undertook some physiotherapy and managed to rejoin the show with his leg propped up.
‘I thought, I’ve been off for a few weeks, I’m gonna start ringing the changes,’ he joked.
He explained the nasty injury he suffered while playing football as he added: ‘Thanks for all your lovely messages, it’s lovely to think you all care.
‘Could you send some of that love to my wife because she’s really struggling!’
The TV star gave fans an update on his physio, saying his sessions were ‘so far, so good’ but admitted they were ‘agony’, explaining he and his physiotherapist were focusing on regaining the ability to extend and flex his leg.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
