Susanna Reid, 50, and Piers Morgan, 55, were joined by Mr Markle, 76, on Good Morning Britain to discuss the aftermath of his estranged daughter’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, 67, in which she said she felt betrayed by her father for doing a deal with the press in the lead up to her wedding. Meghan Markle, 39, also claimed in her candid conversation with the American chat show host that a member of the Royal Family expressed concerns over the colour of her son Archie’s skin before he was born. Reflecting on this moment, Mr Markle ended up swearing and the host had to interject to apologise to ITV viewers.
Mr Markle said in reference to betraying his estranged daughter: “She let me down as well. I was in a hospital bed the last time we talked and didn’t hear from them again.
“They didn’t care if I died. I had a procedure where they put a stent in and that’s when we talked, we have not talked since. This whole thing about colour and how dark the baby is b***s***.”
Susanna jumped in as she told viewers: “Firstly, we need to apologise for the language.”
The host continued as she said: “One of the things, when somebody feels they have heard a racist comment, it’s something that needs to be heard, understood and perhaps investigated.”
“Well a racist comment should be investigated, it could have been a dumb question,” the guest replied.
