Tammy Slaton and her sister, Amy Slaton, have been on a weight loss journey on 1000-lb Sisters. Fans have been rooting for the pair to lose weight and get healthy but so far, only Amy has made progress. In fact, at the end of season 2, Tammy actually gained weight. Now, fans are wondering if TLC is actually sabotaging Tammy in order to keep the show going.
Is TLC sabotaging Tammy Slaton?
1000-lb Sisters follows Amy and Tammy on their weight loss journeys. Viewers see everything from doctor visits and weigh-ins to the women struggling to make healthy choices. Theoretically, if both women did manage to get their surgeries and reach their goal weights, the show would have to find new storylines to cover.
Fans are getting worried
Some fans have become concerned that TLC could be sabotaging the sisters.
“I came up with the theory that TLC is manipulating Amy and Tammy,” one person wrote on Reddit. “The reason why Tammy has yet to lose any weight is due to the fact that their contract prevents her to until maybe x episode of x season.
“Obviously, they have the power to control whether or not both Amy and Tammy can lose weight because guess what happens if they do lose weight? There’s no more ‘1,000lb Sisters,’” the person continued. “Why support TLC if they contribute to Tammy’s weight gain and mental health problems? They are exploiting her and it’s very sad to see…”
Other fans stated that TLC could never legally do that.
“TLC has a long history of shows with hugely obese people and many of them have lost weight,” one fan responded. “I don’t think they are keeping Tammy under contractual obligation to stay at a certain weight, and they certainly aren’t paying her to gain the 100+ lbs she’s gained since starting the show. They would be opening themselves up to a huge lawsuit if they tried that crap. Tammy hasn’t lost weight because she is not accepting that she and she alone is responsible for losing weight.”
Tammy Slaton has gained weight on ‘1000-lb Sisters’
Despite most likely not being under any kind of contractual obligation to stay at the same weight or gain it, Tammy has gained a considerable amount of weight since the show started. At her last weigh-in, she gained over 60 lbs.
“I just wasn’t doing what I needed to do,” she told her doctor at her final weigh-in. “I mean, sometimes I try to eat healthier, and then other days I’m like, ‘What the heck’s the point?’”
Instead of being upset, the doctor was happy that Tammy had finally acknowledged her addiction to food. In his opinion, that was the first step to making some real changes with her weight.
With 1000-lb Sisters Season 3 around the corner, fans are ready to see if Tammy has made any real changes. According to the synopsis for the new season, Tammy checks herself into a rehab facility in order to tackle her addiction.
1000-lb Sisters Season 3 premieres Nov. 15.
