A CONTESTANT on The Chase was left wincing after he received a brutal putdown and was sent home just minutes into the show.
Monday's episode of the ITV quiz show saw Mark 'The Beast' Labbett try to catch the four contestants; Gareth, Aaron, Nicky and Julie.
Aaron, from Bristol, was up first and told host Bradley Walsh he would spend any winnings on a trip to New York with his girlfriend.
However, he didn't get off to the best of starts, securing just £1,000 during his Cash Builder round.
When he headed to the table to take on Mark, it didn't take long for The Chaser to dish out some sarcastic comments.
Mark quipped: "Oh, dear Aaron. Well it's enough there to get ONE of you to New York!"

Aaron joked back: "I think I'll just get her to pack her bags and then at least one of us is a winner."
Mark then made a low offer of £100, which he sarcastically said was "value for money", then made the high offer of £35,000.
Aaron decided to stick with the £1,000 he had brought to the table, even though teammate Gareth had hinted he should consider the low offer.
With a sigh Mark told Aaron: "I agree with Gareth, when you are as weak as you are take whatever will get you home!"

Mark's jibes were backed up by game play, as he managed to catch Aaron easily, even though he took a wild guess at the last question.
The Beast quipped: "Gareth was right, if you had taken the lower offer you would have been back home but tarrah!"
It meant Aaron went home empty-handed, putting his dream trip to the Big Apple on hold.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1.
