Beetroot is one of 12 contestants taking part in the sister show to The Masked Singer, The Masked Dancer, and they will be hoping to make it all the way to the final. Viewers of the ITV show will watch as the colourful character showcases their dancing abilities, which will determine whether they know their stuff or if they are an amateur. However, it seems some avid fans have already been doing some detective work and they think a Strictly Come Dancing star could be hiding inside the costume.
The root vegetable will be taking on Llama in one of the three battles taking place in the first episode, performing a routine to the song I Put A Spell On You by Annie Lennox.
It seems the colourful character will be showcasing more elevated skills due to the slow pace of the track that only a professional could master.
With Strictly star Oti Mabuse, 30, already serving as a judge on the panel, it would make sense for one of her co-stars to be a contestant.
After it was revealed Beetroot would be taking part as a contender for the crown, viewers flocked to Twitter to share their theories as to who the famous face hiding inside could be.
And it seems Australian professional dancer Dianne Buswell, 32, was one of the hot names stapled to the vegetable inspired costume.
One avid fan wrote: “I’m already thinking Beetroot is Dianne Buswell,” with a second adding: “Calling it now, if [Dianne Buswell] is on The Masked Dancer, she is the beetroot.”
The connection to the beetroot could be to do with Dianne’s roots in Australia as it is a popular ingredient in kitchens Down Under.
They have been used, in particular, to help boost the vegan trend with beetroot burgers becoming a delicacy overseas.
With the professional dancer also sporting iconic red locks, the colourful character could be based on her hair stylings.

As well as all this, the description of the character stapled to their picture was: “They dance to their own beat – it’s Beetroot! #MaskedDancerUK.”
Again, this seems to suggest this person would not need any coaching as they would know the best moves to showcase their professionalism.
However, viewers will have to wait until Beetroot is eliminated to see whether the Strictly star is hiding inside.
The colourful character won’t be the only famous face performing in the first episode as they will be joined by Llama and Zip.
Completing the line-up for the show’s debut will be Knickerbocker Glory, Scarecrow and Viper, with one of their identities being revealed at the end of the show.
The series will air its episodes over the next week, with the likes of Squirrel, Beagle, Carwash, Frog, Flamingo and Rubber Chicken all getting their chance to perform.
Oti is a newcomer to the judging panel, with The Masked Singer stars Davina McCall, 53, Jonathan Ross, 60, and Mo Gilligan, 33, making their return.
Speaking about what’s in store, Strictly professional Oti said: “My mind has been blown. You just don’t expect that level of dance.”
“So it’s really hard to guess who these people are because they are known for other things, not just their dancing skills,” she added.
Oti continued to explain: “You don’t expect to see a Carwash doing backflips in a huge costume, it’s crazy but it happens.
“And I know you guys don’t know what I am talking about but trust me you will be like how can they do that?”
Host Joel Dommett, 35, added: “I think you will be surprised. The names that are being revealed are so good. It’s been wonderful.
“There are a lot of people out there who would prefer to dance and not sing and this show is perfect for them. There have been some amazing names so far.”
The Masked Dancer begins tonight at 7pm on ITV.
