Considering the fact that she grew up in a famous family, is seems like it would take a lot for Gwyneth Paltrow to be at a loss for words celeb-wise, but in December 2020, the Oscar award-winning actress admitted there was one star who left her speechless. During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Quarantined with Bruce on Dec. 9, 2020, the Goop founder revealed that one of her co-stars in her 1993 film Flesh and Bone was also one of her idols in the acting world, making her a little giddy when she was in the star’s company. “I was so starstruck around her. Like I could not, I felt like I couldn’t even be myself,” she recalled on the radio show. “I was so nervous around her and she had just had a baby. She was so nice.”

With Gwyneth Paltrow’s decades-long career in entertainment, you can only imagine the famous faces she has come across. Despite her many years in the industry, it was one of her co-stars from her early days that made her inner fan girl come out thanks to the influence their career had on her own: Meg Ryan. 

“I had this reverence for Meg Ryan and, or, like, Julia Roberts, you know, when I saw Pretty Woman, when I was a senior in high school and in those women, I felt like illumination within myself,” she said, explaining her infatuation with the star on Quarantined With Bruce. “Like, ‘Oh my God, this is what I want to be. They’re so brilliant and charming and funny, and they’re lighting up the world and that’s what I want to do.'”

The day Paltrow finally met Ryan, “it felt so personal to [her],” she revealed. “I couldn’t believe it.” Despite the success of her career and meeting her role models, Paltrow has been vocal about being disenchanted by the industry. She realized she “doesn’t love acting that much as it turns out,” adding that “part of the shine of acting wore off.”
