Adam Scott is executive producing project fromChris Kelly and Sarah Schneider
“The Other Two” creators Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider are developing a dark comedy about a closeted gay teen for HBO, TheWrap has learned.
The untitled half-hour series, which is still in the development stage at the pay-TV channel, is described as a dark, psychological comedy set in the year 2000, about a closeted gay teen who constantly dissociates and imagines he’s a famous (straight) actor merely playing the role. That is, until he meets someone who upends his entire way of thinking.
Kelly and Schneider are writing the potential series and will executive produce the project alongside Adam Scott and wife Naomi Scott for their Gettin’ Rad Productions banner.
News that this comedy is in the works comes on the heels of the Sept. 23 second-season finale of Kelly and Schneider’s HBO Max series “The Other Two,” which was followed one day later by a Season 3 renewal for theDrew Tarver and Heléne Yorke-led sitcom.
The seven-time Emmy Award-nominated Kelly and Schneider are co-creators, co-writers, and executive producers of “The Other Two,” which aired its first season on Comedy Central before being picked up by HBO Max.
The second season starts off with their pop star brother, Chase Dreams, officially entering retirement at the ripe old age of 14, Brooke and Cary (played by Drew Tarver and Heléne Yorke) must now contend with a new famous family member: their 53-year-old mother Pat, and her eponymous daytime talk show. Humiliated at being The Other Two yet again, they double down and make it their mission not to be.
