The Walking Dead season 11 episode 2 release date

Fans have been waiting since April 2021 for the final season of the post-apocalyptic show to air.

They can expect plenty of drama and surprising deaths as the characters’ storylines are wrapped up.

The first episode, titled Acheron: Part I, makes its debut on AMC tonight and Maggie Rhee (played by Lauren Cohan) is expected to run into trouble.

She has been trying to navigate her turbulent relationship with antagonist-turned-protagonist, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

The storyline from the first episode will continue in a double-bill, with Acheron: Part II offering up the answers.

Episode two of season 11 is scheduled to air on AMC in the US on August 29, as the episodes are airing weekly.

Fans in the UK will be able to catch up the following day, August 30, via Star on Disney Plus.

There are some superfans who have already seen the first and second episodes, which have already aired on AMC+.

The online streaming service is only available in the US and it requires a paid subscription.

But it is worth the cost, as it means some viewers have already gained insight into what happens to the survivors.

Season 11 is expected to be split into two parts, and titles for the first eight episodes have been revealed.

The titles for the weekly episodes are as follows:

Episode three – Hunted – September 5

Episode four – Rendition – September 12

Episode five – Out of the Ashes – September 19

Episode six – On the Inside – September 26

Episode seven – Promises Broken – October 3

Episode eight – For Blood – October 10

There will be 24 episodes in total and the final season draws inspiration from the comic book issues 175 to 193.

In these stories, the survivors come across the Commonwealth, an elite network of communities.

The official synopsis for the second episode reads: “The group discovers a member did not make it to safety inside the subway car.

“Surrounded by walkers, going back out into the tunnel to search is a guaranteed death wish. All eyes are on Negan as the rule of survival shifts.

“It is no longer No Man Left Behind. The motto now is We Keep Going. With very little ammo and energy remaining, the group must ready themselves as the walkers have found a way inside the subway train.

“Meanwhile, Daryl is in his own intense hellish situation trying to find Dog and finding more than he expected; and Yumiko challenges the process at the Commonwealth outpost, which threatens her future and that of Eugene, Ezekiel, and Princess.”

Fans are wondering how the series will come to an end and they believe either Maggie or Negan will meet their demise.

Maggie actress Cohan opened up about whether her character should have the chance to kill Negan and avenge her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun).

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she said: “Let’s say she kills Negan, and it seems like it’s the solution to the problem.

“If she lets herself go down that road, I think she has truly let go of who she was. This is just Lauren speaking, but I think there’s something to be gained for how they could reach a resolution.”

Fans have been sharing their thoughts on the latest episodes on Twitter, with one saying: “The evolution of Negan is one of the best things this show has and I’m looking forward to seeing the development between him and Maggie. Also I love Daryl so much.”

Another said: “I’m dying to see how Negan and Maggie’s uneasy alliance turns out! They have a LOT to overcome to be able to team up and work together!”

The Walking Dead season 11 episode 2 airs on AMC on August 29 and Disney Plus on August 30.
