Reboots, remakes and revivals are all commonplace in Hollywood now. It seems like one star of the Disney Channel series, Wizards of Waverly Place, is totally down for the show to come back.
Who starred on ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ and when did it air?
Wizards of Waverly Place aired on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012. The series can be considered airing during a key time in the network’s history, given the fact that it was on air during the same time as many classic Disney Channel shows such as That’s So Raven, Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Jessie and more.
The show revolved around a three siblings who were actually wizards as they all competed to be the one to keep their family’s powers. As far as the cast, the series primarily served as the launching pad for Selena Gomez, who would go on to become one of the most popular entertainers to come out of Disney Channel. The show also starred David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals Barrera, and David DeLuise.
The family patriarch wants back in
If you look at his Instagram page, DeLuise, who portrayed the children’s father, Jerry Russo, has been posting somewhat regularly about a potential reboot of the show. This week, he posted a photo of the show’s logo, photoshopped with recent images of Gomez, Henrie, and Austin. He captioned it, “You guys want a #reboot #wizardsofwaverlyplace #disney @selenagomez @davidhenrie @jaketaustin @jenniferstone @greggsulkin @maria_cb Let’s do this !!”
Back in October, he commemorated the 12th anniversary of the show and said he was in favor of a reboot. “12 Years ago today #wizardsofwaverlyplace @selenagomez @davidhenrie @jaketaustin @jenniferstone @maria_cb let’s do it again,” reads the caption.
With a Lizzie McGuire revival coming to Disney+ and stars of The Proud Family saying that series is getting a revival as well, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Wizards of Waverly Place came back too.
If and when that moment happens, until then, you can watch every episode of the series now on Disney+.
