Earlier this month, Vera fans were left disappointed after they were only able to watch the first two episodes of series 11. The latest season was cut short due to filming being delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The first two programmes saw DCI Vera Stanhope (played by Brenda Blethyn) back with her sidekick Aiden Healy (Kenny Doughty), as they attempted to solve another murder – and now the actor behind Aiden has some big news.
The final four episodes of series 11 will be available to watch in 2022, although a specific date hasn’t yet been confirmed.
However, fans will be delighted to know filming for the rest of series 11 has wrapped up filming.
The actor who plays Aiden in the cop drama confirmed the news on social media.
In view of his 23,000 followers, he told his followers the final four episodes had been filmed.
He wrote: “And that’s a wrap! Best part of a year filming. You’ve seen two already.
“Four more wonderful eps to be shared. Massive thanks & congratulations to EVERYONE getting these made during COVID.
“It’s been challenging both physically & mentally, but we’ve done it! Over & out X.” (sic)
Kenny’s followers were quick to respond to the news, with many praising the cast for their “hard work”.
Sarah replied: “Thank you to all involved in making this wonderful show in very difficult times, we appreciate it and love the show, can’t wait to see the new episodes next year, hope you can have a rest now x.”
Dianne penned: “I’ve seen the first two. Loved them as always. I will look forward to four more in the new year. Thanks to all of you.”

So far, fans have been treated to two episodes of series 11.

The builder was found beaten to death on the steps of Tynemouth’s Collingwood Monument.
The second programme saw DCI Stanhope called to the scene of murdered support worker, Angela Konan.
Angela was found hidden amongst the bleak woodlands of Northumberland National Park.
